How can we better manage stress?

There are many causes of stress in our daily life. Relationship issues, motherhood stress, job security, and money matters are all examples of things that may cause a considerable amount of stress. As a woman, you may find that you are constantly filling several roles in your day to day. You may be a mother caring for children, while also filling the role of wife and an employee.

Women don’t always have the time and energy to focus on their own goals and take care of themselves. Stress can be positive, negative, short-term or long term.

How does stress affect us?

Physical – Stress can cause headaches, difficulty sleeping, aches and pains, or lack of energy.

Emotional – Stress may cause anxiety, anger, unhappiness, irritability, mood swings, and frustration.

Mental – Stress can also cause worry, negative thinking, or lack of focus.

How can we better manage stress?

Take care of yourself – Regular movement, proper nutrition, and good sleep are all foundations of a healthy body and mind.

Fresh air – A breath of fresh air can be very relaxing. Try taking a walk or opening the windows to help ease stress.

Take a break from the screen – Taking a break from social media, television, or technology can be helpful.

Stretch or do meditation – There are lots of free meditations and stretches available on YouTube. Taking 10 minutes to stretch can be very relaxing..

Set measurable goals and get organized – Setting reasonable goals can help us better achieve what we desire. Being organized can help ease stress and feelings of being overwhelmed.

Find an inspiring hobby – Finding a hobby and allowing the creative juices to flow can be beneficial to our mental health. Is there anything better than relaxing with a paintbrush?

Talk it out – Sometimes we just need to talk to someone. Reach out to a friend, family member, or professional if you’re feeling stressed. Talking things out can help us see issues in a different light.

I love this article. It is amazing what stress can do to a body. I have been on a journey to find out why I keep having these “tia” type episodes. I have seen multiple doctors all with varying opinions over the span of three years. However, I went to Mayo Clinic this week and found out I have a functional neurological disorder which is caused by stress and it is much more prevalent in woman because we are so weighted down by stressed.

I worry sometimes that stress is what will end me some day. I have an anxiety disorder and I feel a lot of the harsh effects that comes with worry. Definitely puts a lot of stress on my body. I have to take extra care to tend to my needs, give myself lots of recharge time, and practice healthy habits.
